Respond through ballot box: Nasim

BNP-led 18-Party alliance is killing people by unleashing arson and sabotage. The people will respond through vote in the next parliamentary polls,” said the spokesperson of the 14-Party alliance.

Nasim was speaking at a meeting of the 14-Party coalition at the Awami League chief’s Dhanmondi office on Saturday.

Regarding arrests of BNP’s Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and other leaders, the ruling party Presidium member said, “They have been arrested for breaking the law. Their remarks proved they instigate vandalism and arson .”

He urged the people to resist the violence carried out by Opposition supporters.

“This cannot be tolerated anymore. Stand up against them, resist their destructive activities,” said the former Home Minister.

Police arrested Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in the early hours of Saturday from the BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters in the case filed over a bombing of a bus at Shahbagh on Thursday during the Opposition blockade.

Several senior BNP leaders including acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir were booked in the same case on Friday.

The Opposition has enforced another 72-hour blockade of roads, railways and waterways across Bangladesh from 6am on Saturday to back their demand for a non-party caretaker to conduct the polls.

Nasim said, “I will tell the Opposition, if they want solution they must choose the democratic way. Solution won’t come by destroying democracy.”

The next polls would be held according to the Constitution and no one would be able to thwart it, he insisted.

The polls are scheduled for Jan 5.
