Sylhet cut off

Owners stopped plying their buses on Saturday morning voicing security concerns -- and also because they were unwilling to violate a government order barring buses from entering Dhaka city.

No buses left Sylhet's Kadamtali Central Bus Terminal.

Trains have also stopped moving with railway officials blaming it on 'disrupted schedule'.

Dhaka-bound Upobon was to leave Sylhet at 8am but authorities did not let it start.

Sylhet Railway Station's Master Muhibur Rahman said, "It is taking time for the train to start due to 'disrupted schedule.'

He, however, could not say when trains will ply normally.

Opposition BNP called for 'March for Democracy' to Dhaka ending with a rally in front of the party's Naya Paltan office on Sunday to stop the Jan 5 polls.

Ruling Awami League have vowed to resist the march.

Buses have stopped plying from various districts to Dhaka since Friday ahead of the opposition's march to Dhaka programme.
