5 policemen injured at Narail

The shutdown in the district on Wednesday was called to demand stopping the execution of death row convict Abdul Quader Molla in a war crimes case.

The clash erupted around 8am when police stopped the activists of Jamaat and Islami Chhatra Shibir when they tried to block a road in Dumurtola, police said.


Sadar Police Station Inspector Moktar Hossain was injured in a bomb explosion triggered by the Jamaat activists.

They beat up the policemen, leaving five of them injured, said district acting superintendent of police BM Nuruzzaman.

They were admitted to the hospital.
Moktar Hossain was sent to Khulna Medial College Hospital in a critical condition.

Sadar Police Station’s SIs Md Tannu and Md Jalal, Havildar Bablu and constable Sayeed are undergoing treatment at Natore Sadar Hospital.
