শনিবার দুপুর পৌনে ২টায় নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিবালয়ের সহকারী সচিব আশফাকুর রহমান কমিশন সচিবালয়ে সাংবাদিকদের এ তথ্য জানান।
তিনি বলেন, সর্বশেষ প্রাপ্ত খবরে আমরা ৯টি কেন্দ্রের ফল স্থগিত করার খবর পেয়েছি। এগুলো হচ্ছে- কুমিল্লারসিজিয়া উচ্চ বিদ্যালয় ও পরীকেট সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় কেন্দ্র, ফেনীর ওলাতলী সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় ও ধরাপপুর সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় এবং চাঁদপুরের পাথোর সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়, বেরকোটা সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়, মাঝিগাছা এমএম উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়, টেগুরিয়া সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় ও পশ্চিম রাজারগাঁও সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ের ভোট গ্রহণ স্থগিত করা হয়েছে।
উল্লেখ্য, চতুর্থ উপজেলা পরিষদ নির্বাচনের তৃতীয় ধাপে শনিবার ৮১ উপজেলায় ভোটগ্রহণ চলছে। চলবে বিকেল ৪টা পর্যন্ত।েএরই মধ্যে বাগেরহাটে নির্বাচনী সহিংসতায় একজন নিহত হয়েছে। এছাড়া বিভিন্ন কেন্দ্রে ব্যালট বাক্স ছিনতাইয়ের ঘটনাসহ জালভোটের খবর পাওয়া গেছে।
দায়িত্ব পালন কালে ময়মনসিংহের মুক্তাগাছায় আওয়ামী লীগ সমর্থিত প্রার্থীর কর্মীরা ৩ সাংবাদিকের ক্যামেরা ছিনিয়ে নিয়েছে। ফেনীতে ২টি মিডিয়ার গাড়ি ভাঙ্চুরের ঘটনাও ঘটেছে। বেশ কয়েকটি উপজেলায় ভোটের সুষ্ট পরিবেশ না থাকার অভিযোগে বিএনপি সমর্থিত প্রার্থীরা ভোট বর্জনের ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন।
ভোটগ্রহণ উপলক্ষে নির্বাচনী এলাকায় সাধারণ ছুটি ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া মিটিং মিছিল ও যানবাহন চলাচলের ওপর নিষেধজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হয়েছে।
দুই দিন আগে বৃহস্পতিবার থেকে নির্বাচনী এলাকায় সেনা টহল শুরু হয়েছে। প্রতিটি ভোটকেন্দ্রে একজন করে প্রিজাইডিং অফিসার ও প্রতিটি ভোটকক্ষের জন্য একজন করে সহকারী প্রিজাইডিং অফিসার দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন।
প্রতিটি উপজেলায় এক প্লাটুন করে সেনাবাহিনীর সদস্য টহল দিচ্ছেন। সঙ্গে সেনাবাহিনীর কমান্ডিং অফিসার ও একজন করে ম্যাজিস্ট্রেটও রয়েছেন। এছাড়া মোবাইল ফোর্স হিসেবে র্যাপিড অ্যাকশন ব্যাটালিয়ন (র্যাব), বর্ডার গার্ড বাংলাদেশ (বিজিবি), পুলিশ ও আনসার বাহিনীর পর্যাপ্ত সংখ্যক সদস্য মোতায়েন রয়েছে।
